"...One minute she was asleep, the next she was completely awake and dumped into despair."

I clicked through my entire 'reading list'- aka the other blogs from people I have met or known, only two of the seventeen are active.
They have migrated back to life, in real time, or migrated with the stream that adopts the newer avenues of a more instant, faster changing flow such as tumblr, and twitter.

I think my blog is now as I always thought of it, less a letter to my friends and more a journal of events.  One left in the spare room, unlocked.  My digital means of looking backwards.

I went to MONA with Zok and our house guest Liz.  The latest exhibit went up while I was away.  MONA is large, and on the interactive side.  Most of the space is underground, which I find makes the saturation of sensory input more intense.  I like going through with people the first time, so I know where to concentrate my energies the next time I am alone.

I really liked this exhibit, it worked in tandem with another permanent space I love- the sound tunnel, part of the dialog from this visual display was also in the tunnel.  We are seated under the hull of a ship, and the screens used for the projections indeed look like eye balls.
If you are interested here is the blurb from the exhibit.

Also, one of the women I met from Derby has an exhibit.
I loved it.

"Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that."

I have been living in Australia long enough that I am starting to forget the American equivalent for certain aspects of living.
Here, in Tasmania green waste is taken to the 'tip' which is a word, basically meaning dump, as in "No tipping allowed here".
Our tip is privately owned, normally the cost for our Jeep load is about $5 AU, this is reduced to $3, if we remember to bring recycling such as cardboard.
We live within a township so actually our recycling is picked up by the city.

The tip also takes salvage and random items. Each tip has a 'tip shop', which to my eyes is a free-for-all junk yard.
I don't have a lot of luck finding items in places such as these, I like my thrifting to be a bit more upscale, honestly I find the tip to be a bit like dumpster diving in a bad neighborhood, plus if you find an item there is a price for it.

However, Zok found what he wanted here, a couple of frames and some glass.
I, too found items, and I am not sure why, but both of my items were free.
The table cloth which isn't showing well via photo was thrown in by the tip shop with Zok's other purchases, and the cigar box was from a store I quite like, hidden amongst a strange array of magic items. I only wanted the box, so the lovely man separated the box out for me and gave it to me-
Gratis.

"Bring on the night...I couldn't stand another hour of daylight..."

y

a
After a solid week of rain, where I started to feel as if everything might start to mold, the day turned fair, even warm, with ample sun and light breezes.
I took a people slash talking slash news day off. I woke with a desire to clean my laundry-storage-skate gear room, and to clean all the mud off my shoes worn throughout my aforementioned rainy week. I turned down all offers of social interaction and was much the better person for that decision.
Of course the sunny day meant many people were out, and when I could no longer resist the pull of a warm day, I had to skate in the parking lot of my local school because the courts were taken up.
I did many small things and really nothing at all and for me that was bliss.

For Shelly-
Things that overly occupied space in my mind (or is that took up synaptic energy).

Robots; the amount of money spent on them, where they are being tested (such as aged care facilities and warfare), and the technological advancements of their abilities.

The fact that THOMAS MIDGLEY who worked for General Motors was responsible for BOTH adding tetraethyl lead to gas/petrol all the while ignoring the horrible, health effects of lead on people, such as kidney failure, blindness, and cancer because it was cheap and stopped the 'knock' that can be heard in engines, he followed that genius with the invention of CFCs a.k.a. chlorofluorocarbons that errode our ozone layer!
I mean seriously, where is the movie about that guy?

Les Paul has died. For non-museos, he invented multi-layered, or eight track recording, and the first solid body amplified guitar which is how guitar players such as Jimmy Page were able to create that sustained note, I think that the 1958, Sunburst, Les Paul was the first guitar I knew by name.
My father used to put Les Paul & Mary Ford songs on the mixed tapes, that he made me, and he would sometimes hint that Colleen partly came from Mary Fords real name being Colleen, but I never believed that.

Like Kind Women-Alike while liking the Queen

Yesterday I went to get my citizenship papers.
I am not fond of ceremonies, especially because there is never a guide.
An outline, a tour book page, a run down of the schedule. I am happier when I know what is going to be expected of me. I like instructions such as; 'Parking behind the building in the two hour lot, as the ceremony should take approximately no more than two hours, but not less than one hour'.
I like to know what to wear, and if I should eat before arriving. I want to know if I can take photos or if my purse will be searched.
So you see, instruction-less I went with a bit of trepidation.
Although Derby pulled through, I tried to hide away, to just pop over to the Mayors office on my own (the Mayor here is the Mayor of Kingborough, which is a big part but not all of Hobart)-but Emma aka Dirty Cheetah, and Eloise aka Eliza Hornberry descended upon my house with both cake and fanfare.
Emma went with me to the ceremony (she of course knew all about the Mayor who was a practicing Pediatrician before becoming a Mayor) and after work Eloise came over and we ate too much, and there were joke presents all around. The cake apparently is quite important, many an Australian woman has made or broken her reputation upon the making of this cake.
But don't think us backward living here, the cake came from a shop.
I had been joking (to anyone that would listen) that I expected to be given the baby native animal of my choice, this alas was not true, but they did give me a nice native plant. Perhaps Australia does already know me well...
Does anyone notice a theme regarding the people who were all given papers yesterday?
